Delta Steve & Brown Dog

Delta Steve and Brown Dog met whilst playing with Yarra Yukers. Following a realisation that they shared a love of resonator guitars and early blues music, the partnership was born and has developed a repertoire of blues of different styles through performances at open mic nights at Bar 303 in Northcote over 2023.
Meet Delta Steve Johnson:
After failing to be born in the Mississippi Delta, Steve had to draw his blues inspiration from the mighty Humber Estuary near his birthplace in the UK and local legends like Deaf Lemon Washington and Tinbelly. After playing in a folk band with a schoolmate, unsuccessful attempts to expand his blues on a 12 string guitar with hands that were too small seemed to mark the end of his blues career. Taking up the ukulele in retirement and the acquisition of a resonator guitar rekindled his love of the blues.
Meet Brown Dog Dupree:
Born in New York City, and starting to play the guitar in1960 during the Folk Music Revival, Brown Dog had the opportunity to watch and learn from folk and blues artists like Bob Dylan, John Lee Hooker and Mississippi John Hurt. Picking up the Uke about 8 years ago he found it kinder to his old hands and gave him the wonderful experience of once again making music with friends.
